Summer's Last Get-A-Way!

Sandi and I decides to take the kids up to Lagoon and the Zoo before school started.  I don't really like roller coaster rides but I love the zoo.  It was our first time going to Highland/Alpine area.  This is where my friend, Sandi grew up.  It is beautiful! First we took the kids to Lagoon.  The lines weren't too long and there were plenty of little ride that the little girls liked.

Sunday Night

The kids and I went to church in Salt Lake.  We went to the Genesis Branch.  The Genesis Group was established in October 1971 by the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a dependent branch to serve the needs of African-American Latter-day Saints.  You can check out their website at http://www.ldsgenesisgroup.org.  It was a great experience for the kids and I.  My favorite part was the PRAISE HYMN, everybody had to stand while clapping and singing! It was amazing.  Then the kids went to a primary lesson and Q went with the YM/YW.  After meetings, everybody meet in the cultural center and had yummy treats, which was Clay's favorite part.  On the ride back to Sandi's house I asked the kids how did they like it.  Clay said mom I was the only white kid in my class.  I said how did that make you feel?  He said it was a little intimidating.  Q on the other hand said, "Mom, I felt so at home.  I was relaxed and started making friends right away."

We ended our trip with a hike up Mount Tempanogas. It was gorgeous!  I never realized all the beauty Utah had to offer. (The hike was steep! It about killed me.)

 

What a great way to end our Summer Vacation!  The kids are ready to start school!

July 2009

As you can see I'm still trying to get up to date!  July came and went so fast.  You know what they say...Time flies when your having fun.  We had so much fun this month.   We went to the Snow's cabin for the 4th.  We celebrated Liv's birthday.  I can't believe she turned 3!  Before we left for the cabin, we had a lunch time birthday celebration at Liv's Babysitters!

For the 4th we headed up to Park City!  It was georgous.  We had fun riding the Alpine slide then enjoyed fireworks that night!

What a great 4th with the Snow's and VanOrdens!  Happy 3rd Birthday to my sweet little LIV!

The 24th of July was spent in Panguitch for The Hatch Family Reunion!

The Lion King

This summer for Clay's Birthday I took him to see the Lion King.  We went with Sandi, Camden, Teague, and Mei Li. Clay and I both absolutely loved it.  I have so much fun with my kids and every once in a while it is such a joy to spend time with them one on one.  We talked, laughed, and laughed some more!  That is one this about Clay, he will keep you laughing all day and night.  I love that he enjoys the same plays I do and a lot of the same TV show.  He is my bud.

June 2009...Summer Days!

So far our summer has been great!  My mom and dad stayed in town for the whole month of June.  We had fun and they spent a lot of time with the kids.  My mom would help take Clay to and from summer school and swim practice and my dad was training "Tiger Jr". 

Quinten went to Golf camp at BYU this year and had a blast.  Clay has really taken to the swim team.  He and his best friend, Camden started in April.  I'm really glad to see Clay find a sport that he likes.  He is a Natural!

We kicked off this summer by hanging out in the backyard having a bbq.

May 2009

Clay rapped (The McDonald's rap) in the end of the year school talent show!  Who new Clay could rap?  What talent.

 

Liv felt a little jealous that dad always camps with the boys....so Ry set up a tent in the back yard for he and Liv.  She was so excited.  They got in there and a few minutes later she wanted her bed.  Oh, well, thanks for trying dad.

 

I got a wild hair and decided to cut Q's hair into a mow hawk!  I thought it looked good.  My dad didn't like it as much.

My 35th Birthday!

This year Ryan and I got to go on a fun trip to San Francisco with the Van Ordens and Snows!  This is the Van Ordens former hometown so they took us all over!  We hit all the hot spots and some great restaurants that only locals would know about!  We had a blast!  The weather was perfect,  nice cool breezes and beautiful sunshine! I love Cali and my friends!!

 

 

You know when you go to get pizza and your waiter is Italian and so is the cook, that your in for some good pizza!

Here's something you don't see in St George!  Thank goodness.  I know Graffiti is so destructive, however, I think it is so cool looking.  I liked seeing a little graffiti again!

A nice steak dinner with fun friends.  Our other neighborhood friends, the Donaldson's were also in San Fran so we hooked up for shopping and dinner.

 

We also got to spend some time in China Town.  Sandi was in heaven!

More Spring!

So I have to put a few of our Easter pictures on my blog.  This year we got to spend time with our dear family friends, the Frasier's.  The Frasier's came to St. George for a week.  We got to have a fun night hanging out.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The next morning we enjoyed the neighborhood easter egg hunt.  Unfortunately, this year it actually rained and the egg hunt was quick, the activities were moved inside with breakfast.

 

 

 

 

 

We enjoyed spending time with the Frasier's, they are so fun to be around.  Our kids have fun together and we have such a special bond bringing home our babies together!

This Easter weekend we enjoyed the Art's Festival, easter baskets, dying eggs with Friends, church,  and of course dinner at our house with the Annual egg challenge!(I lost again this year)

 

 

 

This year the kids had their own colored baskets: Quinten-blue, Clay-green, and Liv-pink.  That way nobody could sneak and eat somebody else's candy.

 

 

After church , we enjoyed Easter dinner with the Stouts and Snows.

 

 

 

 

After dinner we died eggs and had our famous roll-off!

I'm Back!!!

Are you excited or scared? After a long absence from my blog I've decided to get back to it. More fun and excitement from the Hatch Family coming your way, which means more misspelling and improper grammar also! We have had some fun this spring and summer and I don't want to let it go by with out putting it in our journal!  Also if you don't write on your blog often you don't read others blogs. I am missing all of my blogging friends!

Spring 2008

I love, love, love spring.  One of our first nice weather weekends this spring the boys helped me clean up our yard and the empty lot behind us.  We gathered all the weeds and had a huge fire (it was actually a little scary, and we had a few neighbors concerned).  Ryan was on a big fishing trip with a friend in New Mexico.

 

This year for our Spring break we had the opportunity to go to Hawaii with Ryan's Mom and Dad and visit his sister and her family.  The boys were so excited to visit Hawaii for the first time.  Liv was also excited but this was her second time to go. 

 

 

 

 

   

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Formal Night

This year for Valentine's Day my girlfriend Jennie and I thought it would be fun to host a formal dinner party.  We thought it would be great to get out our China ( I have my grandmothers and have never used it), silver, nice stemware, and eat a full course dinner in the dinning room!  We had been thinking and planning it for a few months.  We both instantly knew what dessert we wanted.  Then one night in Vegas when we were walking around the Wynn and Encore I tried a mock tail.  It was Delicious so we agreed that would be one of our drinks for the party. 

Then we planned the menu.... As you all know I am not a big cook neither are my girlfriends, so this was a very scary concept.  We kept it simple and between all of us we each knew enough to pull it off.  I'm so bad that we decided we would get together a few days before the party and practice making the dessert.  After work I went to the store, I called Jennie and told there I would pick up the ingredients.  She had the recipe on her email.  She read it to me and we had everything but eggs and Heavy cream.  I went to the back of the store and looked through the milk section.  I could only find Half & Half of Whipping cream....Which of these are heavy cream?  I started to get nervous so I called my mom, no answer.  So embarrassed, I asked an older woman standing next to me.  She said that Whipping cream is the same as Heavy cream, like it was common knowledge. 

It didn't stop there.  Later while shopping for the dinner ingredients we got a little stumped.  Shallots and chives!!  We didn't see anything labeled shallot in the produce department so we agreed that it must mean the white part of a green onion. We also needed chives and didn't see anything labeled chives so we deduced that the chive must be the green part of the green onion.  Well we went with that and all felt pretty good about it.  Now that I have a little time I looked up these mystery ingredients and we actually didn't have it right, oh well.  For any of you like me here it is:

Our Menu: Six Course Dinner:

Mocktails:  Cucumber and Ginger Highballs and Pomegranate Spritzers

Hors d'oeuvers: Puff Pastry Petites: Onion, sage,and Gorgonzola.  Four cheese & roasted garlic.  Artichoke with herb & garlic cream cheese. Brie & caramelized onion.

Salad:  Mixed greens with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, blue cheese, candied walnuts, topped with a Champagne vinaigrette.

Intermezzo:Raspberry sorbet served in a dark chocolate cup. (To cleanse our palates) (oops we got so busy setting up the dinner plates we forgot to server our intermezzo.  We served it after our entree.

Entree: Seasoned and grilled Tri Tip, Alaskan King Crab Legs, Fresh Asparagus, and Yukon gold baked potato.

Dessert: The Pièce de résistance!  Crème brûlée!

On Valentine's Day I had to run into the hospital to take care of a patient.  Gregg was working also.  We walked out at the same time and I mentioned to Gregg are you going home to shine your shoes and put on your Tux for our formal night?  He said of course. 

I went home and kept working on our formal dinner party preparations. All of us girls were frantically getting ready cooking and setting up.  The men arrived later.  The first to arrive was Gregg.  We were all in the kitchen when we heard Jennie scream!!  We didn't know what happened or if someone was getting a great Valentines present.  As Gregg walked in we all looked over and this is what we saw:

Gregg you absolutely made all the stress and work of hosting a formal night worth every second.  Thanks for making our night and making us laugh all night.

That's Amore

Well this week has been a bit stressful for me due to long hours at work and other work related issues.  I've been a bit on edge and I'm sure my family has been feeling it.  On Wednesday I came home to a huge surprise.  When I pulled into the garage I was greeted by two young Italian boys with roses.  They introduced themselves as Mario and Luigi.  They asked me to come in and have a seat.  There was beautiful Italian music playing and the table was set. 

Inside was a tall handsome Italian Chef who had prepared one of my favorites, Spaghetti Carbonara, garlic bread, and Italian Sparkling Ciders.  I love my boys so much.  Thank you for taking the time to cheer me up and show me THAT'S AMORE.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ryan was also so thoughtful and bought me a perfume that I had been wanting for a year, it was hard to find and he found it.  Thank You so much to my wonderful and thoughtful husband.  You've pulled me through a tough time.  I'm the type of person who prides herself on being strong and independent, but I couldn't do it without you.  I really need to learn to lean on you more, because you are always there for me.  I love You.  Thanks.
